Capt. Chris Myers
Living in Florida, I am fortunate enough to be able to fish twelve months a year. I am a full time flats fishing guide and fishing instructor along the east central Florida coast. If there isn’t a hurricane warning or lightning in the sky, you’ll probably find me on the flats chasing redfish, trout, tarpon, or snook. I specialize in sight fishing with light tackle and fly. In addition to enjoying watching others catch fish, I also like to teach new anglers the techniques I have learned in over twenty years of fishing the Florida salt waters.
My favorite fishing partner is my wife, Julie. When we met, she knew nothing about fishing. After our first trip, she was hooked. Now, she can fish better than most men I know as well as pole the boat and back the trailer.

I find that many women would like to fish, but don’t because nobody ever showed them how. Some are afraid that having their husbands teach them will only result in frustration and arguing. If you want to learn to fish, I suggest finding a local guide who specializes in instruction. Take a trip or two with the guide and then impress your husband with your fishing knowledge. I think most men would love to have a wife who fishes. I know I do.
My favorite fish to target is the tarpon. Known for its acrobatic jumps and drag screaming runs, they can be found throughout Florida in sizes ranging from five to two hundred pounds. Tarpon are a sport fish and do not make good table fare. What they lack in eating quality, however, they more than make up for in the excitement they provide.
