The Albackore Fishing Tackle Backpack

Packing for a camping/fishing trip at our house is a major accomplishment and I’m not referring to the suitcases. It usually takes a couple of days of planning and some fancy packing to get everything we need into two vehicles! And that’s just for five people: 2 adults and 3 children.

Since camping and fishing is almost an every weekend event during the summer months, we have pretty well come up with a plan of action which works fairly well for everyone… Mom does it all! I usually start on Thursday morning preparing the clothes, food, and bedding that we will need to take with us. This is the simple part. Then the tents. We normally take 3-4 tents. Since the oldest two children like to have their own “space”, they each have their own tents that they occupy during these excursions.

Fishing poles are next. This too is a fairly simple procedure. Tommy always takes his two rods, one a spinning reel and the other a bait caster. Then two ugly sticks, one for Casey and Missy and, of course, I wouldn’t want to leave my favorite Abu Garcia spinning reel behind! And of course, we need that minnow bucket and fish net.

Next is the camera and film. They are a necessity for capturing those memories to look back and enjoy later in life. We just don’t leave home without the camera!

With all the sleeping bags, tents, food, clothing, camera, and fishing poles packed, now comes the hard part… the tackle boxes. Now let me try to explain something here. We don’t need two vehicles to take all the camping gear, rods and reels, clothes, and food to the campsite. We need an extra vehicle.. just for Tommy’s tackle! Oh, yes, there’s a tackle box for everything … one for his plastic worms, another for his crankbaits, and yet another for the hooks, sinkers, and assorted other gizmos. And let’s not forget the box of spinner baits! I’m assuming that by now you are getting my drift! There are five (5) tackle boxes in all. These accompany us on each and every trip to the river.

Now, I like to fish and I like to be prepared and take a wide assortment of bait (live and artificial) plus plenty of hooks, sinkers, etc. I also like to be organized. That’s why I own an Albackore Fishing Tackle Backpack. Everything I need for a successful fishing adventure fits into this one simple and effective tacklebox.

The top section is fully padded with two removable, adjustable, padded dividers and is nearly 5 inches deep. It’s the perfect place for me to keep my camera and extra film. I also keep an assortment of power bait, my fanny pack, and other items in this area. Often, you’ll even find a box of Canadian nightcrawlers in there, maybe even a candybar for later!

There are also two multi-purpose D-rings and strap loops on both sides of the Albackore II to allow you to secure just about anything to it. I have found these very helpful and allows me to keep my hands empty to do or carry other things.

Another feature which none of Tommy’s tackle boxes have is a lunch box! Yep! That’s right. The Albackore II includes a fully-insulated, removable, lunchbox large enough to hold a six-pack of your favorite beverage, plus a reusable ice pack. The lunchbox can sit inside the top section of your Albackore or on top, secured safely by the shoulder strap. Now, ain’t that cool?

There are also convenient side pockets on both sides of the Albackore II, giving you easy access to your pliers, scissors, stringer, or whatever equipment/gear you might decide to put in them. I once even put a sippy cup of juice in mine for my toddler! It worked out great!

Inside each side pocket, you’ll find a collapsible rod/tool holder. You can use one to hold your pole and the other for your net, umbrella, or a second pole!

On the backside, you’ll find another convenient pocket, large enough to accommodate another utility box or maybe even an extra set of clothing or your river shoes. My favorite feature though, is the adjustable, removable, padded shelving system and storage boxes. With the shelves being adjustable, you are able to store a variety of different sizes of plastic utility boxes, or five (5) of the standard 3600-style boxes. Remove the padded shelving, and it allows you ample space for the sixth box!

I can keep all my tackle well organized, neat, and dry in these plastic utility boxes, which also come with color-coded latches for easily and quickly locating just the right box! It's all at your fingertips!

The folks at Albackore have set new standards for tackle box manufacturers. No longer will we want to settle for just a tacklebox. Their mission is to provide the finest quality products- while offering you and I the very best value. Visit their website at:
