Fishing Tip:

When anglers carry their fishing rods, they usually carry them the same way they use them – with a hand near the reel seat and the rod tip in front of their body. It’s a big mistake because it’s easy to trip or snag the tip and wind up with a snapped rod. It’s especially dangerous if a crank bait with a couple of treble hooks is dangling from the tip. Instead, carry the rod with the tip behind you. Same thing goes for stowing a rod in a canoe or other small boat: Point the rod toward the stern. More than one angler has been foul hooked or lost a rod because it snagged in a tree in fast water.
