Whitefish with Roasted Asparagus

1 lb fresh or frozen whitefish or other white-fleshed fish fillets
½ Cup chopped onion
½ Cup chopped carrot
¼ cup chicken broth
2 cloves minced garlic
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp paprika
¼ tsp pepper

12 ounces fresh asparagus spears, trimmed and bias-sliced into 1 inch pieces ( 1 ½ cups)

Rinse fish and pat dry. Cut fish into 4 serving size portions and set aside. In a 2 quart rectangular baking dish, stir together onion, carrot, broth and garlic. Top with the fish fillets, tucking in any thin edges. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and paprika. Top with asparagus. Cover and bake in 450 degree oven for 20 minutes or until fish flakes with fork.
