I know a lot of you are fishing the Texas Rig soft plastic and 6/25/2010 I tried something different to see if I could lure MR. Basshog into taking the bait alittle faster. As it turned out I was catching five times the amount of bass as the guy in the front.
I went to Enid Lake and arrived at the lake, and was in the water at 5:15pm. I started off throwing a Shaky Head rig on a spinning rod seeing most of the fish I was seeing on the graph were close to the bottom in about 13 to 15 feet of water. I was using a Zoom 4 inch Junebug worm witht he tail dipped in Chartuse. I caught a lot of fish 12 inches to 15 inches and was still looking for MR. Big. At dark they seem to stop hitting the Shaky head and that is when I switched to the Texas Rigged worm on my baitcaster.
The way you rig this is follow the pictures and see if it does not improve the amount of fish you catch. I did prove this theory but he guy in the front of the boat was only using one bead and I went to two beads thinking that the bass would hear the clacking noise and draw them in faster and it did work.
1. Slid your weight up your line and I am using a non lead weight so I am keeping up with going green.
2. Now slide the beads up the line, and I have found if you go to a craft shop you can get a lot more beads in a bag than what you get at a fishing store.
3. I was pegging the bottom bead with a rubber T-Stop up off the hook. Slide th
e T-Stop through the bottom bead and then cut off the two tails.
4. Attach your hook and soft plastic that you plan on using and the rest is history on the amount of fish that you catch.
See if you do not skunk your partner and get him to start asking whey you are catching more fish than he is.
